Day 1: Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your journey begins with an early morning pick-up from your Kigali hotel or Kigali International Airport. After a brief orientation, set off on a scenic drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda, often referred to as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” You’ll cross into Uganda via the Cyanika or Katuna border, with stunning views of the Virunga volcanoes along the way.
The drive to Bwindi takes approximately 4–5 hours. On arrival, check into your eco-lodge nestled on the edge of the forest. In the afternoon, you can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings or opt for a cultural visit to the Batwa (pygmy) community to learn about their traditional forest lifestyle
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing with Uganda Wildlife Authority guides. You’ll then be assigned a gorilla family group and set off on a guided trek through the dense rainforest. The trek can last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements.
Once the gorilla group is located, you’ll spend a magical hour observing them up close—watching their interactions, feeding habits, and social behaviors in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and freshening up before starting your return journey to Kigali.
You’ll arrive back in Kigali in the early evening, with drop-off at your hotel or airport
