Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll begin your journey to the spectacular Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse and scenic safari destinations. You can choose between two transfer options: a domestic flight to Kasese Airstrip, which takes about an hour, or a scenic road drive that lasts approximately 6–7 hours.

As you travel, take in the beautiful landscapes of Uganda—rolling hills, tea plantations, and lively villages—before reaching the park, located in the western part of the country. After check-in at your lodge or safari camp, unwind and refresh from your journey.

In the late afternoon, head out for a short evening game drive. This is your first opportunity to experience the park’s wildlife in its natural environment. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and perhaps even a lion preparing for its nightly hunt. The golden light of sunset over the savannah makes this a perfect introduction to your safari adventure.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel

Begin your day with an early morning game drive, when the animals are most active. The cool dawn hours are ideal for spotting predators like lions and leopards, as well as large herds of elephants and buffaloes grazing across the plains. Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for its rich biodiversity, home to over 95 mammal species and more than 600 types of birds. Keep an eye out for Uganda kob, warthogs, and giant forest hogs, among many others.

After lunch and a short rest at your lodge, set out for an unforgettable boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel—a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise provides an excellent chance to see animals from a new perspective. Watch as hippos wallow in the water, crocodiles bask on the banks, and elephants and buffaloes gather along the shoreline. The Kazinga Channel is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with frequent sightings of pelicans, kingfishers, and African fish eagles.

Day 3: Exploring the Ishasha Sector – Home of Tree-Climbing Lions

After breakfast, travel south to the Ishasha Sector, a remote and wild part of the park renowned for its tree-climbing lions—a rare phenomenon found in only a few places in the world. During your game drive through this open savannah, keep your eyes peeled for lions resting on the branches of fig trees, surveying the plains below.

Ishasha is also teeming with other wildlife, including topis, buffaloes, elephants, and a variety of bird species. The landscape here is serene and less crowded, offering a truly immersive wilderness experience. After an exciting day of exploration, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening surrounded by the sounds of nature.

Day 4: Kyambura Gorge and Cultural Experience

This morning, head to the remarkable Kyambura Gorge, often called the “Valley of Apes.” This lush, forested canyon contrasts beautifully with the surrounding savannah and is home to a community of chimpanzees. With a professional guide, embark on a chimpanzee trekking adventure, following their calls through the forest. Along the way, you may also spot other primates, such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and baboons.

In the afternoon, immerse yourself in a cultural experience with a visit to a nearby Ugandan community. Participate in traditional music and dance performances, learn about local crafts, and interact with residents to gain insight into their daily lives. Optionally, visit the Igongo Cultural Centre, which offers fascinating exhibits on the heritage, art, and traditions of the Banyankole people of southwestern Uganda.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Departure

Before you say goodbye to this incredible park, take an early morning game drive or guided nature walk. This final outing offers one more opportunity to spot wildlife and enjoy the tranquility of the savannah at sunrise.

After breakfast, begin your transfer back to Entebbe—either by flight or road—depending on your travel schedule. Arrive in time for your onward flight or next destination, taking with you unforgettable memories of Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, and warm hospitality.
