Best Time for Safari In Botswana.

The best time for a safari in Botswana largely depends on what you want to experience, but the most popular period is during the dry season from May to October. During these months, rainfall is minimal, vegetation is sparse, and wildlife congregates around permanent water sources, making animal sightings easier and more frequent. This is also the prime time to visit the Okavango Delta, as seasonal floodwaters arrive between June and August, creating excellent conditions for game viewing and traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions.

The cooler winter months (June–August) are particularly comfortable for safari activities, with mild daytime temperatures and cooler nights. Wildlife viewing is at its peak, especially for predators such as lions, leopards, and wild dogs.

The green or wet season (November to April) offers a different but rewarding experience. Although wildlife is more dispersed, the landscapes are lush and beautiful, birdlife is abundant with migratory species present, and this period is ideal for photography. It is also calving season for many animals, attracting predators and offering dramatic wildlife interactions. Additionally, safari rates are generally lower during this time.

Overall, Botswana offers exceptional safari experiences year-round, but May to October remains the best time for classic wildlife viewing
